basement storage

We just started loading our new Allegro with basement storage. How do you guys and gals secure smooth items like picnic tables in the bay so they don't slide around on the road?

You can wedge things in around the slippery items, put down non-skid mats, or just try it before expending a lot of energy and money on a solution. I've never had things move around in by compartments, but I have carpeted compartments that keep things from sliding around. Also, I don't drive like a race car driver so things usually stay put, including my coffee!
