Basement storage capacity
We are considering moving up to an A from our C. I'd love a DP but really can't afford what I like. In looking at A gassers it appears that the basement storage compartments are much smaller than the DP's offer. I only want the Ford models. Does anyone have any insight into what mfrs. offer larger compartments than average?

Hello ahrma175,
On my Allegro 35QBA the storage bays underneath stay flush with the main coach when extending the slides... They do not extend with the slides. Means I have to watch my head when slides are out and I need to get something out. It also means I have pass through storage.
I have multiple shelves above the main storage that I use for camp chairs, extra table, case's of water, my door mat, etc. It is not nearly as large as the DP's pass through storage, but I've got way more room than I need and could easily pack enough stuff to go over my weight rating if I didn't watch it.
Are you looking for new or used gasser?

I have more storage than I actually need in my Winnebago Sightseer 35-J. I have the "stor mor" system on the street side, so all the compartments are easily accessed. My favorite (and most used compartment) is the one just aft of the entry door..I keep all my tools, Weber Grill, and other odds and ends there. Yes, I am very biased with my opinions of Winnebago Coaches- I have never had any notable problems with mine.

Mine does pretty good for an old gasser... But ya, you have to really shop around to find one.

The "stor more" is simply the term Winnebago uses that means the cargo bays are integrated into the whole slide out. If you want to see it- go to winnebagoind.com and click on "key features" for a model that has it.

Remember the ancient corollary..."One's junk expands to fill the space available", it seems to jump out and bite me everytime I try to pack for the next trip ! I have 33V Winnie/Itasca Suncruiser w/ 8.1 l GM gasser and so far must be flyfishing gear and DW's stuff are lightweight cause we stay below the max GVW/GVCWR.
Enjoy the open roads and Thank a Vet for our great Freedoms !

My 2000 fleetwood Flair had taller cargo bays, full storage under queen bed, and partial pass thru storage above the cargo bays. Some of the entry level
coaches didn't have all these features.
In the DP MHs the 4 to 6 battery packs take up more room as well one
with a side radiator. The diesel gen. takes up alittle more room and limited storage, if any under the queen bed.
A 40 ft. Beaver would work for me.

We moved from a C to an A back in the summer and did a lot of research. Looking at basement storage, we found that the Winnebago Adventurer line had storage space and capacity very similar to the DP products they sell. We ended up buying a used Adventurer and there is an incredible amount of storage in this coach, so much that we have room to spare!
You can see some pics of the coach here and get an idea of the storage available. https://picasaweb.google.com/swreede...eat=directlink

Our 06 National Surf Side has more outside storage than we ever use. National is gone, but there are lots of used ones out there.
