Batteries

I have a 2004 Monaco Windsor and I need 2 new 12 volt batteries. Can I go down to Costco and buy the most powerful battery they have that fits or do I have to get a special battery for this motor home?

Most likely your coach uses type 31 batteries and that is what you should replace them with. I do not believe Cost Co carries Type 31. I replaced mine with Type 29 from Walmart as I had 2 that were only about 6 months old from a previous project and they have been working fine for 7 months.

Are we talking engine starting batteries or house batteries? They have different requirements.

Since you said two batteries, I'm guessing it's the starting batteries. If you have the ISL engine, you need two batteries that can deliver at least 950 Cold Cranking Amps (CCA) each. They will probably be the group 31 size to have that much power. If you just ask for a "big battery", it probably won't be anywhere near that much CCA rating.

"Standard" batteries for a mid-2000 Monaco MH product is two 12 volt (in parallel) and four 6 volt batteries in series/parallel. The 6 volt batteries are normally called "golf cart batteries". There are NO batteries specifically for MH's. As mentioned above, make sure they fit (size) and the cold cranking amps (CCA) are at least equal to the MH manufacturers recommendations.
I'm sure Monaco Tech would be happy to provide that correct info...
