Batteries and generator

I have 2 questions. 1). What batteries start the generator, the coach or the chassis? 2). Will the generator charge the chassis batteries? Thanks

The House batteries start the Generator. But most have a switch that you can use either to start the generator if the house batteries are dead. Some get a battery charger to charge the Chassis batteries to keep them charged

My 99 Newmar the gen set starts from the coach ( house)batteries, or if the boost button is used ; from the chassis batteries , the gen set powers the converter/charger , and if your year of Newmar charges the chassis batteries from shore power , they will also charge when the gen set is running.
