Battery odor

One of my 2 house started giving off a sewer type smell and was hot. I removed both batteries, we are plugged into 50 amp service.
Is it a bad battery or something else.?

You more then likely have a dead cell in one of them. Been there, done that. If you have a Freightliner outfit nearby I'd replace both with their 12v sealed batteries. Last ones I bought were under 100 bucks each and the old ones lasted around 8 years. I had a dead cell and it stunk up the MH and yes the battery was hot to the touch.

Make sure your converter or inverter charger can be set correctly for sealed batteries (AGM) if not they will be over changed. Also disable the equalizing mode.

If you don't have the manual converter/charger find out the manufacturer and model number. Go to the manufacturer's web site and download the manual. If the settings can be changed it should be in the manual.
