Battery Replacing
Hi All
I want to replace my house and chassis batteries in my DP. Is there any tricks I need to know besides connecting the cables the same way I disconnected. ? Do I just disconnect, is there any switches I need to turn off, etc.

If you have slides pull the fuses for the control boards so no battery spikes activate the control boards.
Here are a couple of links on batteries, # 1 and # 2.
Remember to tag all cables and tie wire groups together and note position of the positive and negative posts on battery tray.

i was told you should always disconnect the negative first in case you accidentaly touch ground when you disconnect the positive. good luck pk42.

Good advice and the reverse (Positive on first) when you re-install. Taking pics before you remove the old ones is a really good idea.

If you have disconnect switches for chassis and house batteries, turn them off. That should protect any equipment from power spikes.

To increase battery life, charge them to 100% before using them. Most new batteries are only charged to +/- 80% so you need to bring them up to a full charge. A 1.5-2.0 amp charger is all you need....charge 24 hours.

Thanks Everyone for the help. If I make sure the house battery switch is off, is that enough since I don't know where or if I have a coach battery shut off. I do have a small charger to bring batteries to a full charge.

Usually found both in the forward fuse/relay box for the chassis and near the battery compartment for the house...but really could be anywhere the manufacturer wanted them.

Disconnect the positive first....and replace it last....If you remove the negative first and touch any metal it wil arc.... That is the way an electric welder works, you touch the rod to the metal and it arcs and melts....
I just put a new battery in my tractor yesterday...hooked up my charger and will unhook it later today....24 hours of a charge to bring it up to 100%

Ground is always first off and last on. If ground is not connected and you accidentally touch a positive to metal, it won't do anything. Where as if ground is connected and you touch the positive to metal, you're going to make big sparks as you're effectively shorting the positive to the negative.

I used tape and ziplock bags to what cables and connectors could not be removed to prevent any inadvertant contact during the process.

I recommend marking the cables, Red for Positive Black for negative, Paint, Nail polish or colored electrical tape or split loom.
If you have multiple wires connected to one terminal tape or tie them together.. A very common complaint is
I replaced my batteries and now _____ does not work
Resolved when he finds the wire he forgot to re-attach.
