battery trickle

Looking to get some ideas on keeping a maintenance charge on a class A in storage. Have no available electric in the offseason. Thought of using a solar powered system. Any out there that package solar panel w / controller for a reasonable sum ? R F S

What about pulling the batteries and keep them on trickle charger at home?

I removed my marine starting batteries from my boat and stored them in the Minnesota garage. Started with fully charged batteries and were still good in the spring with no trickle charge.

I would think disconnecting the negative cables and leaving the batteryon the coach would be similar.

I guess it depends on what you think is reasonable. I have one similar to this:

Amazon.com: Battery Tender 021-1163 5W Solar Maintainer: Automotive

It's amazing how they hide the invisible feet that let it walk away,

You may need a new storage facility ...

My Winnebago came with a standard 15 watt solar panel which does a great job keeping the house batteries at full charge; and for storage, I place a jumper between the house and chassis battery to keep it charged as well.

You don't need a charge-controller for a 15 watt solar panel.

For big RV type batteries don't bother with any solar charger less then 15W. Even at that, it's only 1.5Amp of charging juice, and then only where there is sun.

Just disconnect the grounds. They'll be fine months later. As long as they were fully charged and the specific gravity is good when they're disconnected.
