We have finally gotten comfortable using the bus. Everything is stored where it needs to be and the set up is becoming routine. You know what that means ....

First since it was dusk and I couldn't see well I put the blocks under the rear jack on the edge of the pavement and in the middle of the night it slipped and crushed 3 of my legos. No biggie reblocked and leveled.

Then I was hooking up my newly plumbed propane grill and it wouldn't light so I let it flow for just long enough to think about something else then hit the sparker and poof. Needed those eyebrows trimmed anyway.

Finally, I was retrieving something from the storage bay and stood up to quick. I thought for a second my Kidney might flop out onto the ground but it felt a lot worse than it really was. Whose idea was it to put razor blades on the corner of the slides anyway ?

Day one of a 16 day stay. Glamping is hard Y'all

Yep. Our Phaeton is our 1st coach with slideouts on the patio side & the forward one is relatively close to the entry door. One night, I went out the door to retrieve a bag I'd left in the toad (parked behind the coach) & about walked smack into that deployed slide. I'm so used to coming off the aft side of the entry step when headed to the back. I have since put a swim noodle vertical on that slide edge.

I'm also not used to having to bend down under a slide to get into bays. Our Bounder had bays that came out with the slide on the DS & since the PS didn't have a slide where the patio is, I've hit myself more than once on those deployed slides on our Phaeton. I've lined those horizontal edges with swim noodles, too. I've still managed to stand up too quick, but it doesn't hurt as much with the noodles.

We also use pool noodles on the slides... They may not be as attractive as they could be

, but they save the wear and tear on our heads. I think I may try pipe insulation sleeves next year as they are not quite as colorful as the noodles tend to be. It's hard to beat the price of the pool noodles though.

Perhaps the most important thing to remember about those-under-the-slide bay doors is, make sure they are closed before touching the slide retract button. I saw a man ruin both bay door and slide mechanism with one touch of a button.

The bay doors under the big slide on mine don't have gas struts so they don't stay up unless I hold them or use a prop. The doors under the bedroom slide have short struts and can't lift enough to hit the slide. Need to get some of them for the other side...

I saw an RV where the doors that originally opened upwards were converted to open downwards. The mod was nicely done, looked like it had been made that way.

my favorite thing was the RH mirror.. I would get out at the gas station, and step off the step to go in front, and WHAM... run my head right into it..

It only took a couple of times before I started ducking or walking around it ...

Maybe that is why I had to readjust it.. I hit it pretty hard.. the first time, the second time, not so hard,... and the third time just a brush because I ducked down just in time..

You've just experienced what happens to me EVERY DAY!!! And, it seems it's getting worse. I can't go a day without hurting myself, camping or not.

Experience will teach you not to put things in those bays that you will need once set up. Just like if you have a break down on the side of the highway, you want to make sure anything you might need is not in the bays on the highway side of the rv.

Getting better dealing with the slides (sometimes). My big issue is with bruises. My arms bruise easily. Not usually an issue, but after a trip in the rv, it looks like I have just lost an MMA heavyweight bout from just getting things in and out of the storage bays. Seldom remember hitting anything, but looks terrible. Usually fine in a week or two
