Beaver Patriot Monticello

We just bought this new to us 98 model with the 330 HP cat engine. Are there any more Beaver owners on here ? the rig has the manuals but we are having it delivered so no instructions from the dealer and it will be our first Motor home.it will be a week to 10 days before it is delivered and I know I will have lots of questions when it gets here. Like what does it weigh? because I think I will have to upgrade my drivers license before I can even drive it.

Hi there and welcome to Beaver ownership! You will find a large contingent of folks who can provide support and assistance at the http://forum.bacrallies.com/ This forum is run by the Beaver Ambassador Club.

Your rig probably is in the 32,000 lb class that ours is part of. The issue of whether you have to upgrade your license depends on what state you live in. Many states, surprisingly, don't require license upgrades for personal use of RVs. Check with your motor vehicles office before making any assumptions.

Hi I have a 98 Beaver Patriot Ticonderoga, new to me in November. A nice coach, but lots of systems to go through to make sure they are all OK.

Yes, you'll need a "class B endorsement" on your Texas drivers license (vehicle over 26,000 lbs). It requires a written and driving test though neither are particularly hard. The written requires study from 2-3 chapters of the Com'l handbook (you're not getting a com'l license) and my driving test never got out of sight of the DPS building!! More info and the com'l handbook are available at your local DPS facility. Make sure all the paperwork and inspections are up to date and all the lights work.

H. Miller above is correct. If you don't have the correct license or endorsement it could cause an insurance problem or worse, a legal problem if you are in an accident. Here is a link to state requirements:

We are new owners also

Hello,

We just purchased our first coach as well. A 2000 Beaver Patriot Thunder Montecello, 40' with two street side slides, and a fantastic Caterpiller C12 engine. Talk about power and comfortable driving. we are also learning as much as we can so when I can get back to it in April our FT adventure will begin in ernest. Im sure you are going to enjoy it very much, and in Michigan there arent any special requirements to drive it as far as I know, but we will be changing our residency to South Dakota.
