Beeping at rear 1995 Dutchstar Diesel

Greetings,

My tail lights are very weak. All mounted on the frame in the engine compartment is a buzzer that is beeping. Is this related? Backup alarm?

I'm thinking it could be telling me I have a ground problem.

The manual does not mention this warning buzzer only refers to low air pressure one up front.

Suggestions? Like where's my main ground for the taillights or what the buzzer is telling me?

Thanks for your assistance!

Bill

Do you have a remote start/stop in the engine compartment? Perhaps the buzzer is to warn of low oil pressure or some other condition. If it was a backup alarm, I'd expect it to only be energized when the transmission was in reverse.

Use a jumper wire to test your tail lights, see if a good ground connection makes the lights brighter. If so, then you know you'll have to track down all grounds and clean them. If a good ground doesn't brighten the lights, then take voltage readings and see if a bad connection somewhere in the lighting power circuit is robbing you of power.

Tail lights very weak - indication of low voltage. At too low a voltage relays drop out and all kinds of strange stuff happens.

Beeping might be a CO, gas, or smoke alarm tripped by low voltage.

my back up alarm only activates when tranny is in R, but it's loud. Its mounted in the engine compartment. You can't ignore it if it's beeping.

you may have an electrical grounding problem and that takes time troubleshooting.

Try putting coach in reverse with engine running (someone holding the foot brake), and see if the sound is any different.

Turned out to be voltage issue, poor connection at fuse box

Thanks to everyone for the suggestions!

I was looking too hard for a ground fault.

When I started looking for low voltage issues that's when I discovered a loose nut on a 12 volt connection at the base of the fuse box where there is a 12 volt union of two positive + red wires. It was loose and viola all my issues resolved.

Getting prepared to head to Parker, AZ from Denver. What a relief to get those light working again!
