Best 5 manufacturers
Buy what you can to get factory service. When MAJOR things go wrong you really must take it back to the builder. American Coach is excellent, some of the others not including Newell and Prevost are not really in business as the original builder. Some have been absorbed(at least the name) by those who survived the "great recession". The cost of maintenance on the Newell and Prevost will be commensurate with a super high end coach.
IMHO a great value is the Fleetwood Discovery and Providence.
Good luck in your rearch!

Answers on the forum are generally hearsay, personal opinion or what the poster currently has.
It would be interesting if someone could come up with an objective response based on failure rate per thousand units. I suspect that if one did there would be little difference between the manufacturers. The fact that none of them seem to post failure data it is likely none of them have stellar reputations they are willing to brag about.

$100k puts things into the 08 and older bracket. Monaco family, Winnebago family, country coach, Newell. Stay newer than 2000.yes I would include Tiffin.

When I was looking for a coach, I asked RV inspectors and repair shops what the "best" brands were. I knew the very top levels like Provost were out of my price range for the age I was looking at. The ones that were recommended most often for me were Country Coach, Newmar and Tiffin.

As we all know -
size matters
Are you looking for a larger unit with a tag axle? Personally I think you will be better served on putting together of features you want for that 100k.
You also now have a list of coaches on the high end of the spectrum. I would then see what floorplan works best. Then take a look at the NADA website and also mhsrv to get a ballpark on what these coaches are worth at the retail level. Obviously, an individual sale will usually be cheaper.
Be aware, over 10 years old and you are probably not going to be able to get a warranty.
You can see why more information is really needed to better assist.
Let us know what you decide

I found a pretty nice looking 2011 Monaco (have not moved to the inspection stage yet) but all the reading I have been doing seems to indicate that after 2008 the quality of DP's (excluding the premium brands) really dropped. Is that a fair assessment?

If you remember in 2008 the economy was in the tanks. So I believe you are generally correct. If I recall 2011 Navistar owned Monaco and the changes the power plant from Cummings to Navistar. Quality can be subjective. So it is good to do a little homework on the history of a company before you pull the trigger. A lot of consolidation has happened over the pay few years. REV now owns and operates Monaco
