The best compressor for me was the Porter-Cable CMB 150 psi one discussed earlier. It is 120V AC powered, reasonably quiet and doesn't walk all over the ground when running. 3 points that were important to me.

The best modification was adding a polyurethane air hose to the compressor with quick disconnects >>> http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00..._al_bw_g328_i1 I hate those coiled up air hoses. This one is light and flexible.

Thanks for you info. Looks like the Porter Cable 120V or the Craftsman egg shaped 150 psi is what I hearing is popular. If I were to put 5-6 lbs in a 19 inch tire. Saying I want to set tires at 82 lbs, how much time time would it take to fill to 82 lbs.

Yes, a nice 12V compressor that could do the job. If you do not have a hefty house battery system, they recommend you hook it up to the chassis 12 V battery and let the engine run to keep the compressor working properly or it will blow the inline fuse. IMO, if you have DP with auxiliary quick air connect, install an SMC Pneumatics pressure booster. It is compact, needs no power and costs about the same. There are some good threads on this forum about it. Also, a good article in the May, 2016 issue of FMCA Magazine.

Hey srh,
Been using air system stuff, i.e. tools, tire stuff, paint guns, air grinders and a whole lot more for decades and, have never heard of a "pressure booster". Just what is it and how does it boost pressure?

OP, not hijacking this thread, figure it's all related.

Take a look at this thread.....it has a picture and describes it. It basically doubles the pressure....so 75 psi in becomes 150 psi out

Since nothing is free, doesn't the pressure booster cut the CFM in half ?
Maybe not a big deal with a engine mounted air brake compressor at high RPM.

We carry the Porter Cable 150psi pancake compressor. Fits nicely in a bay, come with three nailers and utilize it for lots of different tasks.

Maybe I could borrow one of your nailers for use in making my Jeep tires/Wheels "Bead lock" units for running low tire pressure off road!!!

I would be willing to give it a "go". I have just brad and staple nailers so are pretty small. If necessary I can borrow a framing or roofing nailer for extra "oomph". LOL
