Best caulking ..

Need to redo the caulking on the the rigs trim.. What is the best stuff to use.. Last year I used proflex and within 4 month it all split.. (split right down the middle lengthwise so it did adhere ).. Any recommendations would be appreciated..

I'm puzzled by your results with ProFlex. In my limited experience, I have found it to be a superior, high strength glue/caulking, not just great at sealing joints, but adding strength to them.

The only idea that comes to mind is that I have found the shelf life of ProFlex caulking to be very short. It tried buying some ahead of time and storing it for a few months before getting around to my project. Bad idea. The product deteriorates on the shelf. I learned to plan my project, get it ready, then purchase the product, making sure it is not old on the store shelf.

I think I would try putting another bead of ProFlex on top of what you have. As you said, it has adhered well. Maybe a second layer will solve the problem.

The tube was purchased and used the same day..it seemed to have hardened and split... I live in Florida and the sun really cooks things here... I still have a few tubes left..I store them in thengaragefidge to kep thm fresh

This is what I'm using and have been using for any project I've needed it for. I live in Florida as well and it seems to hold up to the heat and humidity over here in Brevard county. It's inexpensive and you can't tell it's there when it dries, if you smooth it out properly. I actually just got done using it to seal the screws and gaps on the roof of my RV that I'm replacing today. It sets fairly quick too.

I'm not Really keen on using silicone...every time I use silicone it cracks , molds or fails..

Something with buytl in it is the best. Silicone doesn't stick, so moisture gets behind it.
