Best lift leveler spring stretcher picture

BAD BOLT's EXTENDER is great. SO MUCH BETTER THAN ANY OTHER. IT IS AT THE BOTTOM OF THIS THREAD CLICK HERE HWH front leveling jack spring installation...Ughhh!

My springs hook to foot. Retracted can pry off. STRETCHING new spring I obtained free about 40 Home Depot paint sticks. Cut to 2.5 inches. Used vise and bent spring to open up placed wood in... then bent other way. That stretched the spring. Did top and bottom. IT WORKED

ONE PROBLEM: My jack rod was extended when the spring and foot came off. Now it will not retract. I used a 2.5 ton air bottle jack. Raised the coach. Placed metal jack entender foot on wood block. Lowered jack. INSIDE pressed raise jack. ROD went up a little. AND over and over until rod was all the way up for spring install.

If a jack is slow to retract, before storing the jacks, spray a liberal amount of WD-40 on the jack rod(s) and store the jacks as you normally would. Excess WD-40 should be removed from the jack or jack foot after storing the jacks. Cleaning the jack rod as explained above should be done. Using WD-40 to assist in the retracting of jacks will probably not be a permanent fix. Anytime a jack needs assistance when retracting, some type of repair of the jack such as new springs or replacement of the jack will be needed to make a permanent repair.

Are you worried that the jack was hard to retract ; with no springs, or now the you have new springs on the jack , it still won't retract , and you believe the shaft may be bent?

How did the plate and springs get knocked off ?

How did springs come off?

The foot is a round piece of metal held in place by the springs. I was using a wooden block 6" x 6" and the wood split to one side which tilted the foot with one side raising and one side lower then the entire block shot away. The movement enough for one spring to come off and at that point the second spring leaving the rod depressed into the asphalt.
SINCE this is NOT a double action ram getting it to raise up (without springs) can not be done easily.
By raising the coach with a 2.5 ton jack I was able to start slipping chunks of wood under the ram eventually raising it to assist in connecting the springs.
