We have a 2003 Itasca Spirit 31T that we need to sell because of a divorce. I have looked at various online sites and have advertised in rvclassified.com about two weeks ago and have not gotten even an inquiry. It has low mileage, is in great condition and has a satellite tracker. We are asking $51000 for it so I honestly do not think it is overpriced.

Would appreciate any suggestions on best way to sell. We live in a somewhat economically depressed region and local ads have done nothing.

Thanks for any help

Mike

Believe it or not Mike, I read a thread where another rv seller was having a tough time like you. He said it finally sold, and quite easily, after he hung out at nearby RV dealership on Sunday when they were closed. He would approach the window-shoppers as they neared the dealer, and one of them ended up buying his coach. Guess he just sorta hung out in the MH in the parking lot, watching Sunday football in the meantime.
-we all should be so lucky, huh?

Mike,

2 years ago, we sold our 2000 MH. For the first 5 months, all I had were tire kickers and people whose story was "if I sell my conversion van"....or "can you finance it for me?"....or "I'll only pay wholesale price". I became very depressed with selling our RV, first the fact that I had to sell it, and second was to hear people's insults to try and break me down to lower the price.

Then with one month of unemployment left and only two weeks after listing it on RVTraderonline.com a man called me from Connecticut who had seen my 66 photos online and lengthy description. He negotiated the final sales price on the phone without seeing the MH except in photos. A week later, the buyer flew into the Pittsburgh Airport, I picked him up in the MH, drove him to a mall parking lot where he did a 10-minute walk-around exterior and compartment inspection and, then he drove it 40 miles to my bank. He paid with certified funds and the title was released. We went to an auto dealer and transferred ownership, he got a temporary tag, and homeward bound back to CT he went.

My advise to you is to upload as many pictures to a photo hosting site as you possibly can, and write a description like a manuafacturer would put in a sales brochure. Don't put time in worrying about the next call. Instead put your time into refining your ad. Take a good look at dealer's ads. Compare yours to them, and then tweek it.

Remember this...it doesn't matter how many calls you get nor how long you wait to get the first call, as long as you answer the phone when the buyer is on the line..

George

P.S.: One more thing....be sure to place a line in your ad that clearly tells dealers, and resellers not to call. Guranteed, they will offer you an insultingly low price and call it wholesale. GM

Mike, we offer a classified section here on iRV2 where you can upload pictures and a description.

Across the top of the page you can find a link to the "classified" section.

I should add that I had it listed in the iRV2 classifieds and got many page views from the ad.

Two other sites are, RVTRADER.com and RVSEARCH.com. We purchased our 2004 Dolphin from a family who advertised on RVTRADER.com. Worked out very well and quite easy. Good Luck
