94 Southwind. Notice that the upper gasket on the passenger side of the windshield has ever so slightly pulled away from the body. Further close inspection shows what looks like old silicone caulk on the top and sides.

So I searched the forums as best I could but did not find any real recommendations as to what to use to re-caulk. I have a tube of Lexall but it says not to use around rubber-products. I also have a tube of "pure" slilicone and a tube of GE Premium Waterproof Silicone for Window/Door/Attic/Basement (referring to a stick house).

So, thoughts?

I myself would ask a Glass Company who replaces automotive windshields . They know best and always seem to have the most up to date products or advice. That way you can do it once and right.

x2 about calling a glass company who does MH windhields.

For sealing gasket to the coach, I'd use GE Silicone II caulk.
GE Silicone I does not adhere as well, I'd avoid any "siliconized"
products as well. It' not unusual for the seal to the coach to move
around a little bit.

Had to make a hardware store run which took me past an auto-glass place that was open. Popped in and asked what I should use. They guy behind the counter looked at me like it was an obvious answer and said "Silicone".

I may wait another day or so and see if anyone has any thoughts.

The factories and professionals only use urethane when they install windshields.

I asked my glass guy, and he told me that the LAST thing you should use in silicone.

ALWAYS use urethane.

If silicone has been used, try to remove as much of it as you can before properly sealing it with urethand.

I learned from experience that silicone doesn't work to seal windshield seals. I do understand that the correct product is urethane. I did caulk my windshield with Permatex or Loctite 'The Right Stuff', available at most auto parts stores, and I believe also available at Wal Mart. It is most popularly recognized as an engine gasket maker. I used acetone to clean the windshield and the rubber seal before applying the product. It worked excellently, and has remained a solid repair for two years now.

When I resealed my windshield I used Silkaflex 220+. I purchased it from my local glass shop and he was nice enough to give me some useful tips on using the product.

Do a Internet search, you can purchase it from Amazon also. Just make sure to wear disposable gloves.
