Best way to wax motorhome

After many years of waxing, polishing, buffing, sweating, etc. I have finally discovered the most efficient steps to getting a good wax job on my motorhome:

1. collect cold beverage of your choice

2. tell DW you will be getting motorhome looking spiffy and just leave you alone to get it done

3. go outside and sit in chair, sipping cold beverage while you watch the young guys you just hired wash and wax your motorhome

I found that writing a check while drinking beer was much better than doing that stuff myself.

As long as you watch them and don't let them take that power washer to it.

I watched a mobile crew at an airshow this week washing an RV with a rubber roof with a pressure washer. Obviously it was dirty because the guy had the tip of the washer about 2 to 3 inches from the roof blasting away. Bad part is they are long gone when the owner finds out that the roof is leading because they blasted all the sealant from around all the screws and flashings off!

With a wide nozzle it's probably OK from a distance to rinse it off, but a narrow nozzle up close not so good.

Deputydog - Yes, you can use a pressure washer with wide nozzle to wash your coach. I have done so for 11 years with no harm.

You do, however, have to watch your distance and also be judicious and careful around the decal edges so you do not lift them. It is definitely not something I would trust to young high-school or college students.

We also use it to wash the boat.

Ironically, I just did as the OP did, hired out the job of hand waxing my coach. I was able to negotiate what I thought was a fair deal. When I did the math, the cost was the same to hire out, as I usually spend after I did it myself (for Aleve and chiropractor appointments).

These guys are good and have a lot of experience. Keep it Clean in Myrtle Beach, SC. They pretty much hang out at Ocean Lakes and tell me they do about 10 rigs a day. I was their 4th wax job of the day. They do use a pressure washer but with very wide nozzle and mostly to rinse and to conserve water. Wash roof, wash coach, spot free rinse. They let the coach dry completely for a hour or so, then come back and do the polish. Cost is a bit less than $6 per linear foot for the job. I did pay them extra this time to buff/polish the roof.

The day before mine I watched them do a Liberty Coach Elegant Lady with a lot of polished stainless steel. That was something to see when done.

I think you made a wise decision. Now I am thinking I need to move. I can't find anybody to mow my lawn so waxing the MH is out of the question.

I agree... having a good time and shooting the breeze while waxing is a great way to make the task short and sweet. Now you come find me...I am the guy waxing alone. My wax pal is a four footed pal that finds some shade and keeps an eye on my progress.
