Beware of falling objects.

While going down I-10 west towards Tucson Az, I went under an overpass and a truck going over it dropped something that crushed my roof. We heard the bang, but @ 3:30AM after looking over my coach, I couldn't find any damage. After we got our camp site @ Rincon West RV park, I hired their local RV washer/waxer to clean my coach. They climbed onto the roof and informed me I had major damage done to my roof. My estimate is approx 15K and I have no idea how long in the shop. It just doesn't pay to travel overnight... Hopefully we'll get it back soon. My insurance (Foremost) has been great, but now I'm worried about my insurance sky rocketing.

If you have had very few claims I wouldn't worry about your premiums increasing that much. Most insurance companies only increase massively for people that have more risks than the others.
At least you are getting your insurance company to pay for it. That is a relief in itself these days.

I had a +$7K claim on my coach last year. Just got my insurance premium notice and my insurance went up $9, I was pleasantly surprised.

What would you have done differently if this had happened during the day?

You are VERY lucky it hit your roof and not in your windshield, if it fell off from the overpass !!!!

Are you sure it came from the truck or could it be part of the bridge structure.

mrider,

Nothing, but I would have temporary covered the hole with something. It's more not seeing the damage than anything else.

Belly,

I not really sure, but after returning home, the overpass is in great shape.

63 I'm also lucky it didn't damage my toed, I've only made 11 payments on it.

Thanks for the replies.

yeah....you guys were fortunate. It could've been much worse had it of went through the windshield. Take the distance where it hit from the windshield and the rate of speed you were traveling and do the math......you were a fraction of a second on the good side. RV's and toads can be repaired.
