Bicycle rack again
Per many previously posted suggestions I purchased a Roadmaster double hitch and a Swagman bike rack to carry two bikes on our motorhome. With the bike rack in the upper hole and my Blue Ox in the lower, it is difficult if not impossible to rotate the Blue Ox into the storage position since the arms need to be in an upright position in order to engage the pin into the storage hook and then rotated down to the side. Am I missing something or is there a trick to engage the Blue Ox pin with the bikes above?
Thanks

Great quesadilla - hoping there’s answer to the situation. I too found that I was not able to rotate the BlueOx. Frankly, I just removed the tow bar. Hoping there’s a solution - thank you for asking

We actually put a small extension on allowing enough room to mount the swagman (had it welded on) and no problem getting the blue ox to rotate .

I have a Swagman model XCS-2 that does not require a double hitch and allows more room for the towbar. Works well with my Roadmaster towbar and probably Blue-Ox also.

have the same issue - have just been using a bungee cord on the arms to the bike rack to hold them out of the way

Same issue too. The bungee works for me. Really didn’t want to add an extension.

Put the bike rack on your towed vehicle.

That's what I do and I have the flexibility to drive our tow car with the bikes to bike trails.

What sort of rack are you using? I think this is the solution I want to go with but want to be sure it is pretty secure.

I put a 2 inch receiver on top of my hitch and put the bike rack in it the road is far enough back it does not hit , I lift the bikes into the rack and secure

I would think any kind of extension would kill your weight capacity due to leverage.

Since you have no tongue weight should be fine. Blue ox make one which they say reduces tongue weight 50% and no trailers.
