We would not want to go smaller than our 40' three slide MADP.

I have said that to folks with small Rv’s.
At no point did I really mean it.....

We put about 10,000 miles per year on our 43' coach and probably sleep in it less than 40 to 45 nights a year. Only two nights in the last five years did we have to park at a Walmart because of no place to stay. Both times we were pulling an enclosed trailer and were 73' long. We wouldn't want anything smaller and will not give up the tag.

It's nice to read all this feedback, it is very interesting learning how unique and diverse owners can be. I would think, over all, there is nothing regrettable about owning a motorhome, I was just wondering how many would really want to go to a smaller rig.

This type of thread always ends up with people defending their choices. If we ever buy another RV, it will definitely be smaller... mainly because we are "vacationers" and only take 3 or so trips per year. We're thinking a Sprinter chassis next time, if there is a next time.

My wife showed me a thread from another forum that she follows and a 57 year old single lady had decided to sell everything and go the full time rv route. She was getting ready to pull the trigger on a 43' 5th wheel toyhauler which was on sale with a $7k markdown. She has never owned or spent any time in a camper before. I'm thinking thats a bad move, but she's chomping at the bit. What amazed me was all of the encouragement that she was getting on the thread with replies like, "go big or go home".

We love our 36' Class A, using it about 3 to 4 months a year. We mostly camp at parks,
state or national, and have always found campsites long enough. In some older campgrounds there may not have been as many longer sites, but with some planning
always could find one.

34? 37? 40?...all may serve you well depending upon floor plan, slides and features. Overall floor plan and condition probably more important than overall length.
We are extremely comfortable as full timers in our 36 with washer/dryer, residential fridge, full size range and two slides. Some rigs just “fit” better than others.

Owning any size RV is all about your attitude and your desire to make it work. People survive in small MH's as well as monster MH's and it's their choice to fight it or love it.
We full time in a 34' fifth wheel w/3 slides and we could easily get rid of the rear 4' of camper and the 2 recliners that we rarely use.

Back to the OP's Question...
We have a 40' tag axle with a single (LR) slide. (Did NOT want any more slides)
Had smaller coaches.. needed the extra length and "full meal deal" features for full timing.
NO REGRETS for the over all size/weight/handling/amount of storage/fuel,water,waste tank capacities/ fuel mileage/maintenance costs/comfort.

I went from a new 2014 Fleetwood 32’ class A gasser to a 38.9 class A DP. I go everywhere in it. Only lost a couple places that I could barely get the 32 footer in. I liked my 32 foot. It had bunks and a decent floor plan. I miss the bunks, but enjoy the apposing slide outs. It’s funny my 32 footer sleep more people than the Monaco 38PST. So it’s a trade off in many ways. One more thing....I could change the oil and filter and other service on the 32 footer for $70 at a truck service bay by a guy that did great work. Now I have to do it myself and spent $127 just for the 27 qts of oil. I chose to do do it, so it’s definitely a trade off both financially and for different amenities.

But you can go three times as far with that $127 worth of oil before a change.
