Black & Grey Water Drain Question

New to MH and have a question concerning one particular spigot that is located within the sewage tanks access door. This is on a 2003 Airstream Land Yacht; I have the black and grey water dump valves plus the connector to rinse out the black water tank. However right beside this black water hose connector is a spigot (Tap) that is not labeled nor does the manual reference it. Looks just like your normal outdoor water tap. What is this for?
Thanks.

Welcome RVtomtom to irv2.
Where is your fresh water inlet?
If its on your water closet wall it would be for fresh water along with the black tank flush out and switch for water pump.
We have just added down in the Owners Forums a AIRSTREAM FORUM, check it out.
Enjoy the forums and do post often.

This would either be the system drain or what they call the shower for rinsing out hose and washing

On my Mountain Aire it is for water from the fresh water tank. I very seldom use it. Guess it's for dry camping.

Tom,

I am not exactly sure what you are describing, but it sounds like the fresh water tap we have on our 1997 Airstream trailer. Ours has a valve inside the trailer that will shut off water to that tap. I never use the outside tap so I keep the inside valve closed all the time.

Thanks all to your posts. I am a new MH RV'er so I may have more questions regarding my Airstream.
As it turns out it is in fact a tap that you can connect a hose to and clean your drain hose etc after dumping the waste. Never needed it yet as all the dump stations I have used already have a water line within easy reach to do this.

I think it is there to wash your hands after dumping the tanks. It's a sanitary thing. Some MHs have a paper towel dispenser also.

I had that same spigot on the airstream I pulled for several years. It's an outside fresh water source from your water storage tank. I used for rinsing my drain hoses. I also used it occasionally for washing the trailer. I just hooked my garden hose to it, turned on the water pump, and opened the spigot. Of course, you've got to use the water sparingly or you soon run out! Komac
