Black box behind door trim

I have an 03 Dutch Star and I noticed a black electronic box concealed behind the entrance door trim on the inside. Does anyone have this box exposed and/or know what it is. I am thinking it is for an option that I don't presently have, like maybe a keyless entry? Any insights are appreciated. MSG Chuck

black box question

here is a picture but it really doesn't show much. the box is concealed behind the door frame and it is screwed on with oak plugs over the screws.
