Really sounds like a vent problem
Maybe even a leaky vent line

There is no question the black tank can smell bad.
The question is whether that odor is the one escaping into your coach.
In our case, I had to leave the toilet flush trap hanging open for a week due to its failure while we were living in the rig. No odor appeared inside the rig.
I was surprised!
If you have already filled the other possible offending dry water traps and still have the odor, then Chemicals in the black tank are probably needed.

The odor is clearly coming from the toilet. when you flush the toilet you can smell it coming from the tank.

On my last coach which was almost as mature as yours, it had a pile of poo right below the toilet. The poor coach had sat for several years with what began as a full tank, but the liquid had all leaked out. That sucker was as hard as a rock. I ended up using a homemade chopping gismo that after removing the toilet from the floor, I inserted the gusmo down through the pipe and chopped the pile of poo into smaller bits, then flushed it out into a bucket, then carried it into the house and poured it down the house toilet. (yea, my wife loved that!)
With the pile of poo gone the tank smelled better, but still not perfect. Soooo I made a special attachment for the end of my pressure washer wand that would shoot water at right angles and I blasted the inside of the tank dislodging a LOT of "stuff" Using a mirror and flashlight to see where to shoot I further cleaned and cleaned till the inside of the tank was perfect. I was surprised that the tank gauges started to work!
After that I started to use a super secret special chemical in the tank. I always keep about 5 gallons of this chemical in the tank at all times especially when in storage. This chemical is so good I keep a 80 gallon supply on hand for lots of things from cooking to bathing. This chemical is the only thing I use, and for the past 50 years has worked perfectly. But be careful too much of this chemical can kill you!!!!!
Please don't tell anyone about it or everyone will want it and the price will skyrocket, OK? The chemical is Dihydrogen monoxide or Dihydrogen oxide. They are both the same strength and perform the same duties. Let me know if you have any trouble finding this important chemical. You won't be sorry. you started to use it and your nose will thank you for it!

We use a product called Hammerhead purchased from Rejex (Garland Tx). Use 2 oz for 40 gal tank both black and gray. No odors and sensor's work. Do not add anything else, could interfere with the microbes.

Wiping off the hose as you pull it out. Nowhere did I mention or imply to pour bleach into the tank other than rinsing the end of the hose since the cloth will not get it all, plus I'm not using my tanks for breaking down waste any way. They are holding tanks, not a septic system.

Gotcha. I was a little confused what you were talking about with the T-shirt or towel. I didn't think you were implying adding bleach. And I agree that my tanks are more holding tanks not a septic system.

"I have since added water to the black tank along with some of the toilet tank pouch things and even put a little bleach in the tank trying to help the smell."
When I stopped using chemicals the smell went away. I just use water and human waste.
