Blue Beacon RV wash
This trip I decided to get an rv wash at the local Flying J in Lodi, CA. With the drought condition in California and my desire not to wash the rig rig before we pulled out, I felt it was the proper, water conservation thing to do. Well, the wash process was interesting. 6 to 8 guys, all with long handle brushes and power washers. The entire process, including dressing the tires took about 15 minutes. For the $ 57.00 it was well worth it. The only problem was the water caused the windshield connector to get wet, which set the wipers on. The only way to get them to stop was to disconnect the (wet) plug. I noticed the connector was wrapped in electrical tape, which leads me to believe this was a problem earlier. I have some special water proof tape I'll use when I reconnect it. Other than this minor issue I'll be using Blue Beacon again... I didn't even break a sweat!

Instead of tape I would use heat shrink tubing. Cheap easy to install and comes in a variety of colors

That connector probably gets wet in heavy rain too. But then, you'd never notice, your wipers would be on anyway. I use Blue Beacons regularly and have always been happy with the results.

There is some liquid stuff in a can you can buy also, just brush it on and it will seal it up. If you ever need to disconnect it, just run a knife around the connector and pull both sides apart. When you are done, put both sides back together and brush a new coat on when you are done. I saw the stuff at Lowes, and I am sure Home Depot or just about any hardware store carries it.

Curious about the brushes. Many wash brushes leave swirl marks and even small scratches in clear coat, especially if they have been used on many vehicles and not properly rinsed. Do the Blue Beacons leave those swirl marks? How about water spotting? Do they use a spot free rinse?
I saw a coach in Idaho that had just been washed in a big truck wash and it was streaked and covered with water spots when done.

You can tell Blue Beacon not to use the brushes, and then they just use high pressure water jets. I usually tell them to use the brushes and my paintwork looks fine.

Just wanted to add, one time I ran the coach through a Some Other Brand truck wash, the kind with automatic brushes and a couple of guys to finish it off. I was very unhappy with the results and had to stop at the next Blue Beacon anyway. It's BB or nothing for me.

We've had a few reports of damage to the Norcold " black box ". It's best to advise them not to spray directly at the refrigerator access panel.

Just curious; what did you get for $57? Their website RVMotorcoach Wash Prices states $35 for a standard wash for over 30' MH. I thought that was quite low for a 40' MH, so I emailed Blue Beacon last May. The answer I received was " that is the current price and has not changed since the website was updated as noted".

I usually get my 38 foot MH and my Honda CR-V washed and Rain-X'ed, and aluminum treatment on the wheels. Total bill is around $75.
Cliff, on more than one occasion I've heard the team lead reminding the crew to avoid the fridge vents. Some BB's seem to be very familiar with washing RV's.

A tube of dielectric grease is handy for waterproofing plugs and other things.

Silicon tape (Rescue tape) seals well, so does antenna tape (Basically same stuff) I also have Mastic Tape, Likewise it seals well, might be better on a multi-pin plug, but it's a mess to remove.
Re: Brushes.. When i went to Blue Beacon with this house.. they only used hand brushs. NO power brushes.. PEOPLE washed my rig.. Same as when I do it myself.

+1 on rescue tape. I love that stuff. Need to buy new colors-my bright yellow looks bad in some apps.
