Blue Ox tow bar receiver to big
I bought a new Blue Ox Aventa LX tow bar from someone that did not need it and after I got it home I noticed it has a 2 1/2 inch receiver and not a 2 inch. Is there a way I can still use it by reducing to 2 inch or is that impossible?

If I remember right I've seen adapters on EBay. Any local Machine or Welding shop should be able to make you one without breaking the bank.

Call Blue Ox, better yet visit their Pender, NE factory. Given their superb support, they might even change out the ball/receiver part of your hitch for no/low cost.

If you do not wish to wait, or risk E-Bay most RV dealers will have a reducer you can buy right off the shelf, Not much to it really.. I do not recall seeing 2.5 to 2" at U-Haul hitch world stores, but I also do not recall looking for them, I know they had the reducers for 2 to (What is it 1 1/4") but I did not look for the larger one.

I am looking to go from a 2" receiver and making it bigger to 2 1/2". The receiver is 2" and the Blue Ox tow bar is 2 1/2". I need to increase not reduce.

Hi, The receiver connector part on Blue Ox units are available in 1 1/2", 2" and 2 1/2" . You just remove the part that goes into the receiver and replace it. Easy Swap. Contact Blue Ox. I don't think it is a good Idea to add an adapter on these you will be extending the Tow Bar. I also think welding an adapter up should not be done. Just my opinion.

It looks to me that this device will plug into a 2" receiver and offer you the capability to plug in a 2 1/2" shank from a tow bar of other trailer hitch.
I do believe that the adapter will create some wobble so if you use one of these I would try to immobilize it.

I vote for buying the correct part from Blue Ox as well.

I bit the bullet and bought the correct part from Blue OX instead of doing a work around. I will put the 2 1/2", which is new on craigslist and ebay to sell it.

I assume you measured the drop from reciever to toad. I had to get a 6 inch drop down for mine. Those also come in reduced/expanded versions.

How would one go about getting rid of wobble when using an adapter? I use a drop down hitch(adapter)to hook up to Jeep, definite wobble with drop down. The wobble isn't horrible, but there is one. Would like a more rigid setup. Is welding the drop down adapter in place the way to go?
Is there another way, I'd rather not have to leave the drop down hitch installed all the time?

Magic Bus......How much of a drop are you using? On my coach, I was able to weld another receiver on top of the OEM receiver. On my BIL's coach, we added another receiver under his. This gives you about three inches of permanent drop or lift, but still leaves the stock receiver height available if you change toads.
