Blue Ox TruCenter

Last week I ordered a TruCenter and after I placed the order, I read some negative reports. I sent Blue Ox an email and after a few minutes, I received a call from the company. The rep was very helpful and assured me that past problems have been fixed.

I installed the unit today and can't wait to try it out.

We had one of the problematic units. It locked while I was making a left-hand turn. Fortunately, we were in a campground driving slowly, and I was able to stop without hitting anything. I had to climb under the coach as it sat there in the campground roadway to disconnect the Tru Center before I could move the coach.

They took almost a year with the redesign and testing before they replaced my unit with a new one. I was hesitant to put it on, but I'm glad I did. We have had the new one for 2 years now with no problems. I like the way I can re-center the steering when in a cross wind. The unit is also supposed to help keep you going straight if you ever have a blowout. I hope I never get to try out that feature.

A friend of mine saw a class A that had a blow out on the front and it wrecked them. I figure that even it doesn't help in the wind as much as I hope, the safety factor will still be worth the cost.

I believe that you can install and use the Blue Ox Tru-Center with confidence.

When I need to replace my Howard Precision Steering System, Blue OX Tru Center is what I will buy.

I am on my fourth TruCenter (you can search for my saga on another post).

I would suggest you check your TruCenter for an audible click after every day of driving. I have had three solenoids break free inside the metal housing box on the TruCenter. The click means your solenoid is still working.

I took two trips in October with the new TruCenter and so far it is still working.

Maybe I'm a little too hard of hearing, but I can't hear the click on ours unless I'm under the rig and DW is inside pushing the button. No way I can hear it from the driver's seat, even with the engine off.

I had seen the other post you refer to, and, fortunately, I have not had the problem with the solenoid mount breaking. I did have the screws holding the box onto the Tru Center come loose twice. Finally put the box back on with Loctite on the screws and no more problem.

I installed a True Center (Well the dealer did) about 2006, The difference it, and a Davis Tru-Trac in the handling of the MH was amazing.. Summer before last it failed.. I boxed it up and sent it to Blue-Ox and they determined it was NOT one of the recalled units.. Still.. they shipped me a brand new one.. The new one looks to be way better built (To my somewhat trained eye) and installed no tribble at tll.. Seems there were a couple of problelms with the old units.. Some had lock up itis. and the other issue was burned out solenoids.... I told them how to fix the latter one (Burned out solenoids) and guess what.. They took my advice. (I did say trained, didn't I?) What I do not know is if I'm due royalities or if their engineers got there first.

Ok...how can I keep solenoids from burning out? Or does it have to be engineered to work differently?

Solenoids don't burn out anymore because there is a timer on the switch that shuts down power after a pre-determined time if you hold the switch down too long.

I installed a Tru Center some 10,000 miles ago and love it. It is wonderful to be able to re-center the steering in cross winds, eliminates wind "push" from passing traffic and makes driving a much more relaxing experience. I think this is easily the best addition I have put on our coach.

Ours is a year old also and about 12,000 miles. Best investment we ever made. Made driving a breeze and much less stressful.

Gee.. Thought I said that in my post.

In fact. I also said (in that post) That I suggested the timer to Blue OX.

What I don't know is if they took my suggestion or if they thought it up first.

I drove my MH for the first time since the install. I only went 20 miles to get fuel but the pavement is very narrow, sloping, and uneven. I couldn't believe the difference! It now drives almost as easy as my 2010 Dodge PU pulling our fifth wheel! Prior to the install, I had to hold a tight behind just to drive 55 (speed limit) and now I have to be careful not to speed! Amazing!! I can't wait to drive in a cross wind (just a little).
