Blue Tooth lesson learned AVH-x3500BHS

I have a Pioneer AVH-x3500BHS and recently I have issues connecting my phone via blue tooth. I saw on u tube that there is a wire connected to emergency brake that prevents blue tooth connecting when in drive. They said this was to prevent showing DVD on the unit. It's only 6 inch screen so I have never used the DVD player with the unit.

So, I went back and did two things:

1) Applied the emergency brake
2) Clear the blue tooth connection memory

Not sure which worked, but I was able to connect my phone then.

I have one of the Pioneer units that locks out the video also but I used the attached and now it will play anytime.
