Brake Light Issue W22 8.1L

I took a 10 hour trip down south this past week and began having an intermittent brake light come on (NOT the ABS) and the damn buzzer to boot. It happened more frequently when I hit a bump in the road. Coincidence? Maybe. Maybe not.

Also noticed at one point when this light and buzzer came on I noticed that my steps would pop out and sometimes go back in quickly and other times they would stay out for a minute or two at a time. Unrelated, likely since there were times that the light/buzzer would go off and the steps would be fine.

Im beating my head against the wall right now

Im in a 2004 Tiffin Allegro Bay on a Workhorse 8.1L W22.

Any help would be appreciated.

Obviously, having the steps going out while driving isn't a good situation and can be quite dangerous to your coach and possibly others, too. I would suspect you have a loose ground wire "somewhere" and it is likely to cause all sorts of electrical gremlins, such as the brake light, to appear.

Unfortunately, these type issues can be a real PITA to find and repair, but I suggest you start looking carefully at ALL the possible ground wire connections. Good luck.

Typically, these kinds of issues are caused by bad grounds or water getting into components/connections. Clean up the connections that operate the steps. The ABS could be a similar issue. Some times they need to rinsed off or cleaned.
