Branded Title = Any way to look up the history and problems?
I've been looking at a few Country Coach Magnas, and Intrigue's
A few are listed as having branded titles.
I am wondering if there is a way to actually figure out what the real deal is with the RV other than the carfax report..

No way would I get a Country Coach with a salvaged title because when you go to trade it in, it may be painful on your pocket book

IMHO, some people buy things to use, others just want to rent from the next owner.
I have bought wrecks, and repaired them to use. Need a pickup, buy a wreck for 1/4 market value, spend that much more parts and labor, and drive it for the rest of it's life? When I sell it by the pound the snot on the title does not matter.
Now, I think what the OP is asking is "Why is the snot on the title?"

A Carfax report may or may not provide some detail. Usually not much beyond that the title was transferred to an insurer as a result of a total loss, and then subsequently resold. Which you already knew from the "brand". Whether the total loss was merely theft or the result of a major accident can be hard to determine.
I'm one of those who would buy a total loss vehicle, but obviously you want to inspect closely to make sure any repairs are done in a quality fashion. Yes, you probably take a hit at resale/trade time, but you also get a discount when you buy, so it works out. And the longer you keep the RV, the less important the resale value. At some point it will make no difference whether the title is branded or not.

You need to buy it way back of book if you go this route. In the auto industry a REPAIRED salvage vehicle is valued at 50% of book value.
I’d want to be even farther than that back of book on a motorhome since there are so many buyers skeptical of pre owned units let alone one with a branded title. I’d imagine that cuts your buyers down to an extremely small pool.

I think I'd just ask the seller and try to work back from there. If the seller won't provide any information then you have to decide what to do at that point. If there's nothing on the CarFax then the only way would be to track down previous owners.
Heck, post a picture and/or identifying description on here on the appropriate forum Country Coach Owners Forum - iRV2 Forums and you might find a previous owner right here.

If your interested in a specific rig you might take the VIN to your insurance agent and see if they could run.
Local police may or may not. I was interested in buying a used enclosed cargo trailer. When I went to look at it I didn't get a warm fuzzy feeling. I took a picture of the VIN sticker. When I got home I called the police, initially they wouldn't run the VIN, (I had given the number to a secretary when I first called). The police called me back about 5 minutes later and told me the trailer was stolen. A detective then called me and I provided him with all the info I had on the trailer.

Google the vin #. If it came through Copart there may be 10 pictures.

This is spot on advice. I have done many "buy bids" on all types of motorhomes over the years. Every one of the (salvage titles/branded titles) RV's were hit at far less than 50% of book. They were a pain, and the buyers were few and far between, as most banks want nothing to do with them.
