Yours may not have one... post the model number..

If it does it's behind the control panel cover that also houses the stop/start button.

Ok model emerald plus 5000 gen set - 5bgefa26100m
I searched in control box area and did not see this bridge rectifier. I followed leads of the brushes which led to a harness which led to what I think is the voltage regulator.

The generator was working fine 3 mths ago. It then would only run when start button depressed then I started my process of elimination
I replaced starter and oil press sensor
Still no go
Replaced control board and then generator would run actually ran good
Problem it was not making power
Replaced ats switch
Replaced both breakers 20amp/30amp
Still no power when running
Brushes and slip rings appear good
Talked with tech at onan and he suggested bridge rectifier but they had none in stock
Ordered rectifier online but yet to find it
I'm not that skilled on working on this generator but thought by now I would have solved it.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated
Thanks George

A spec M will not have a bridge rectifier. It will have an electronic voltage regulator.

If it's running and not making any power You need to pull the brush block out so that you can see both slip rings. They should be clean and shiny. Using your ohmmeter You should see 27 ohms between them.

Can you confirm that if the generator is not producing power it will fail to run?

Will check ohms on slip rings. I did pull brush assembly block and found lots of wear left in them and copper was clen and shiny on the rings.

Thanks Again George

A BGE will continue to run if it's not producing any AC output.

I pulled this out of a unit about 2 months ago. BGE series, ran fine, no voltage - so the first place I went was the brushes, they were clean and within spec length but the slip rings had some carbon tracking. Started the unit, cleaned the slip rings with my stone while it was running, shut if off and checked ohms between the two slip rings. I had something like 10 Megohms... spec calls for 27 ohms.

The engine just happened to stop at the location you see pictured below and I could see the crack clearly now through the brush block window in the bell housing for the stator. So.. I dropped the unit, seperated the bell & stator, pulled the rotor and replaced both.

Your rotor may not be cracked but can still be shorted or open internally causing the problem. I have replaced dozens over the years and this is the first one I've seen cracked in this manner.
