Being a bit more serious, I assume the two different limits on the sign pertain to the length of the vehicles vs length of the bridge. 10 ton limit if all axles are on the bridge simultaneously, and 18 ton if not.

I'd be in trouble as it's empty weight is almost 23 1/2 tons and GVWR is 27 tons.

I have driven this road many times and never saw a weight limit.

I just googled and the local commission website recently added the weight limit.

What weight limit?? Lol

When we decided to let the GPS take us through the back roads of NE a few years ago, We were pulling a 38' 5iver at almost 14k and got on back roads that not sure when the last time traveled were. First a hill (no place to turn around) where for traction due to the grade plus about 6" of gravel had to use 4WD and then on the back side, the same grade with a bridge at the bottom of what was barely a one lane with a weight limit of 5 Ton. DW is making her last will and testimony on the phone and down we went. Did I fail to mention, one lane bridge with no guard rails. What can you do. "Go For It". Lol We made it and after the wife who also noticed the sign asked "what do we weigh"? A bit over 10 ton. Lets just say that was the last GPS guided adventure we've taken on secondary roads. LOl Glad you made it Safely.

I'm special, laws don't apply to me!
The pictograph put in place for them that can't read English, or can't read fast enough to absorb the information, clearly shows 2 limits, one for single unit, and one for combination. If your single unit weighs 25440 you are 2.72 tons over weight. That small amount over is not likely to cause damage, if you go slow across it. But if something heavy has damaged the bridge, and the damage is found after you crossed it, you could be charged for the damage...

Nope. That is not the way the law works. Paid the fine, got the shirt.

Only if caught crossing the bridge. You have no legal guarantee of a right to cross any bridge.

What you are showing is the federal bridge formula. This is how the limit works for bridges in general. This formula is superseded by signs posted at the bridge for structures that will not handle the normal legal load.

One of the many reasons I prefer a gas rig over an over 20 ton DP... ;-)

Different axle configuration. Doesn't apply in his case.

Last week I had a 10T bridge with no warning but it was short enough that I only overloaded it by 5T.
