Great pictures of the tow process. I had to do the same thing in California when the in-tank fuel pump failed, and everything was the same, even to the light bar hung on the back of the motorhome. The u-joint was damaged when disconnecting the drive shaft, but that was a small price to pay for a proper tow. Coach.net is great.

Were in the shop. Guys are working in trying to reconnect fuel line.

Something I noticed after pulling in shop. Front air bags leaked down really quick.
I am afraid towing may have sent them over the edge from a small leak to a larger. I am going to have them take a look once fuel leak is fixed.

If I do have a leak in air bags and cannot be corrected. What is danger of finishing out the trip other than a leak down when stopped?

Hard to say... If they hold up and the compressor can keep up with any leak then it shouldn't be a problem. However, if you think the towing increased the leaking rate than what ever it is may be getting worse.

It may be wise to go ahead, bite the bullet and get it checked out sooner than later. It would be a shame to have it towed again.

Hurray. All fixed. Mechanic said he had never seen or heard of a fitting coming loose before like this. Thinks a previous service may have been the cause. They checked air bags and could not hear or see any issues.

Just getting my bill paid and then back on the road. Should be just a couple hours service!😅😅😅

Thanks for all the info. I don't have a DP but reading about your misfortune is a real eye opener. I am getting as many bugs out of our, new to us, 97 Bounder as possible before we head out West to CA. I know it's the ones you don't know about that get you so we signed up with Good Sam Roadside Assistance just in case.

Still think I have an air leak somewhere but no worse than before I think. Kept a close eye on pressure gauges. One cycled ever 90 seconds between 100 and 120. Not sure if this is normal or excessive. Never noticed before.

Here are my lessons learned.
1. If you find a leak address it quickly. Even more important if it is on high pressure side of fuel pump.
2. Do not delay having some sort of roadside assistance.
- We signed up for Coachnet after the fact.
- Make sure you have adequate coverage for your size rig. Towing can get expensive fast.
3. Stay calm and keep a positive attitude it all works out in the end.

Congrats on the fix.. what was the final bill?
Our coach was towed recently but the procedure was slightly different. I prefer the wrecker to lift the wheels as they did yours. They couldn't reach the thingy to our wheels so they had to lift from the frame. They removed the genny exhaust pipe and drive shaft. Scraped the rear end pretty good attthe repair shop as the driveway had a big slope. A little damage but I will take care of it myself.

Total bill for the weekend.
$175 mobile mechanic, first said it was a pin hole in the line. 2nd said leaking out distributer plate but did not charge us.
$795 tow 10 miles to service shop (driver commented that was a discounted price full price would have been $1300, ouch!)
$265 labor reinstall fitting (2 hours labor)

The experience priceless!! Well maybe not but I feel prepared for next time.

If we had Coach-Net up front I am guessing cost would have only been the $265 for the repair. Would have had it towed straight to shop as they only pay 1 time per event if i understand what I have read.

Big ouch on that tow price. Seems way to high. We have good sam and we were towed 17 miles to the nearest cummins shop. Tow was free but I got it at the other end $ 2400 repair bill.

The tow to YOU was free because you had coverage. It cost Good Sam whatever the tow company charged them (or is allowed to charge them). The OP had no coverage till after this incident and is lucky to get the discount from what probably would be the "Good Sam price".
