Got stuck in Lusk, WY, over the weekend due to heavy snow. We went to leave today and found that the drivers side front slide would not lock at the top.
The MH is a Monaco Signature.
The drivers side front slide has quite a locking mechanism using the inward movement of the slide to actuate a cam type lever which is connected to another cam type lever via a 1/8 steel cable. Naturally, the cable broke.
The cable is silver soldered into stainless steel cam type levers at the top and bottom of the slide and the entire arrangement is about 1/4-5/16 of an inch thick. Not much room for anything but a perfect repair.
In Lusk, WY, there's a machine shop called Walt's Lathe & Machine, 307-334-3054. I believe these folks can fix anything made of metal. They stopped what they were working on, examined the slide lock mechanism, and set about repairing it. It took them about an hour to fix it.
These are the folks to call if you're in this part of the country and breakdown or have some sort of metal fabrication you want done right.
