Broken Step

I have a double electric step that broke. Where the eyelets allow it to swing out are broke. I am getting ready to order a new one. There is Kwikee, and another brand Stromberg. They look almost identical. Was just wondering opinions on the better of the two.

Thanks
Rick

Don't know anything about Stromberg, may very well be a superior system. However; I do know the motors, gears, and gear drive slugs which are the common failure modes for the Kwikee are available at all the big automotive retail parts houses across the country. Many members here, including myself, have been able to turn a failure around quickly due to that availability.

Broken step

I had a guy that does a lot of rv repairs here at the park look at it . that is what I wanted to do was weld it. Have been told by a couple different people that a weld would only be temporary. They claim inferior metal. I somehow disagree. For the hassles of taking it off and the cost to weld then if it doesn't hold up??. Its at the stress point where it supports all the weight. The crummy thing about it I just replace the motor kit.

Either hang on to it or try selling here or on Craigs list, I'm sure it wasn't cheap either.
Good luck,Tim

I recently replaced mine for the same reason. You can buy a Bare Step without the operating mechanism. Cost is around $300. You can check their website but they only sell through dealers.

I have a brand new series 40 step frame in the classifieds.

The series number is buried in the part number. The step I have is part number 908040000 for example. Steps differ in how they fold up. Look at the side mechanisms closely.
