Bus engine will not shut down

During a week of dry camping I started having trouble with my generator shutting down at random, no codes were set I tolerated the problem until we left for home.during the trip home I ran the generator using one AC UNIT, with no problem. When we arrived home I shut down the AC unit then the generator with no problem , then I turned the key off on the coach and the engine kept running . The only way I could get the engine to go off was to depress the start button on the generator. I started the coach several times with the same results. I have a ISO350 Cummins and a 7.5 kw onan. Anyone else having this problem?

You should put the Make, Model, Year of your coach in the post so people have an idea of the wiring interaction of the generator and chassis.

Do you have a wiring schematic for your coach?

With respect to Jim's observation you can avoid having to add it if you put it in your signature.

I can't say why the generator start button will kill your engine, but the problem of the engine not shutting down is usually bad diodes in the alternator allowing voltage to leak back into the system and provide power to the ECU and injectors by keeping the ignition solenoid closed.

On my coach it is intermittent, and has been for years. Rather than spend big $$ on a new alternator I spent small $ on a cut off so I could kill it when I wanted to.

Shut off the air or the fuel and it will stop. Easy fix install a shut off on the fuel inlet line.
