Unhappy Buyer beware!

Caution when buying a used RV at Mike Thompson in Sana Fe Springs, Ca. got all the reassurance that it went thru a complete 250 point inspection and got lots of fluff from the sales staff and trusted them at there word, guess what two weeks later got stranded with a dead battery and come to find had two blown shocks, $800 dollars later and went back to ask about there inspection and ask to pay half and they said now you dont have to worry about those problems any more. My first RV purchase and boy did I learn the hard way. Dont trust any salesmen, they are all liars!

It's easy to tell when a salesman is lying, their lips move!

Just kidding, sorry for your bad experience. Not all salesman are bad, but many are and outright lie. It's a tough market and many feel that if they were to tell you everything, no one would ever buy anything.

I doubt that the 250 point inspection is more than a marketing tool. No doubt they did some things, but most inspections of this type test things like; does the air conditioner turn on and is it cool-check, does the battery start the motor-check, does the fridge turn on and cool-check, does the light turn on-check.

These so called inspections would normally not test battery strength nor would they check more than to see that the shocks are not leaking. It is buyer beware and the reason that an extended warranty service contract is a viable option for used RV purchases. Maybe the Guy or Gal that owned it got rid of it to move up or maybe because it was approaching the "it's gonna need work age", you never know!

Good luck and hope it gets better!

Actually, that only covers about 50% of the situations. Sometimes salespeople give you papers with writing on them.

OP: I feel your pain. In the grander scheme of things, however, you may be lucky. There are many who buy brand new RVs and have them in the shops for months, perhaps even a year over the warranty issues. There was one guy who lost a transmission and ended up eating some of the bills for it. We, who buy used, are alway subject to problems after the sale. We did a very thorough PDI on ours but still ended up with 5-6 issues that we didn't discovery until later. In addition, it is not uncommon in an RV that has sat for some time, for things to show up broken the first time that you really try to use them. A brief test like a PDI might pass but the battery that showed good voltage might die when you've actually pulled voltage from it continuously for a couple of hours. These are complex machines with lots of moving parts.
