Jim,
Are you new to RVing or is this your first Class A? There are a lot of things to consider when checking out a rig before purchase. It really depends on your comfort, knowledge, and experience level. If you don't feel comfortable, you can hire someone to do an inspection. It's not something I have ever done, but it is a concept used by many. There are a lot of things to consider but here's my general feeling...if the chassis has no major issues with the powertrain and the coach has no evidence of leaks, everything else is an item that can break at any time. Even brand new rigs have issues (some have many) so a well maintained rig is just as good and will save you money. One thing I learned recently from a well experienced camper was to take a moisture meter to the sidewalls on the interior. It will tell you if there is moisture in the walls and any possible leaks or water damage. Water damage is a major killer in RVs. Good luck to you. There are a lot of experienced people on this forum that I'm sure will chime in with other tips.
