Buying a 2003 georgie boy

I have a Georgetown but not happy with floor plan. Found a Georgie boy 38 foot diesel and love it. Has everything I want. My question is I am trading down from a 2010 to a 2003. Does that make good sense. This Georgie boy is built so much better and only has 28000 miles on it. One owner custom paint and stored inside entire time. Floor plan is perfect for me. Bathroom more spacious and yes older but in good condition. Since I am new to this raving just wondered if this is a good trade.

9 years verses 2 years depends on age of tires and if all required maintenence is completed. big thing is amount of $$ you can get back in the trade. older unites are harder to finance if at all.

If it helps, here is the RV.net Rating Review on the 03 Georgie Boy. They do not have much good to say about it.

Here is the site the rating came from. You can purchase a data base and look at all makes and models. I purchased the MH data base before I bought our rig because I was not suree what to look at. This is not perfect but it is VERY good information and will give you a real good idea what to stay away from.
It was the best investment I made in my search.

I have heard pros & cons on the RV Consumer group...
We are looking for a 5th below 2000, most likely a 1998 King of the Road with 2-slides...
Looking for feedback on it now, can buy it for around $12,000

We purchased a 2001 GB Cruisemaster 37 1/2' DP with 44k miles about 6 months ago. Very clean coach that had always been in covered storage. Major factors in purchase were floor plan, large pass thru basement storage, freightmaster chassis, 300 Cat engine, etc. So far very few problems. Areas of concern were age of roof, tires (08 date code Michelins) and lack of maintenance records. We did get all the owners manuals including generator, appliances and such. Any maintenance issues have been minor things that I could fix myself. If your not into that type of maintenance an older coach could be more prblematic for you.

On the plus side the coach runs and drives like a dream. Since this was our first DP I can't compare it to any other coaches but I wouldn't hesitate to buy another one based on my experience so far with tis one.

One Caveat. I did have to get a Non-CDL class B license to be legal to drive the thing in Texas (over 26,001 lbs GVWR). That includes a written test (including air brakes) and driving test in the RV. I'm not sure where you live but I would check on that before you purchase and let that be a factor in your decision.

Good Luck, whatever you decide.

One correction. "Freightliner chassis". Somehow when I combine Cruisemaster with "Freightliner" it always comes out freightmaster. Must be a senior thing!
