Beaver Coaches

We bought a 2008 Beaver Contessa with only 28k on it. It is loaded to the nuts and the cabinets are magnificent. It is a pleasure to drive. Initially I said I didn't want to drive down the highway in something called a "Beaver" but I am sure glad I found this one by chance. I love it.

The Monoco Owners forum here includes Beaver coaches. The Beaver Ambassador Club (BAC) is a great resource. Anyone can browse the forum, but to post questions you must be a member ($), which has as a prerequisite membership in FMCA.

The Monaco Owners Forum on IRV2 appears to be primarily focused on Monaco Beavers; I've seen very little discussion of earlier era Beavers.

looks good from afar. Any thoughts? We are looking for more room, the bigger engine and want it as well built as the Dynasty. Thanks Tom Ryan
Hi Rayn, what engine is in that makes 550 HP? Just wondering

Had a Beaver on a Gillig chassis years ago. Sold it when we bought our winter home in AZ. The winter home lasted 7 years and we hit the road again. Sure wish I had that Beaver back.

A 1991 "Beaver Coach" is/was actually a "Beaver Coach".

However any "Beaver coach" newer that a 1994 is NOT really a Beaver!
It is either:
1.) a Safari, (1995-2000)
2.) or a Monaco, (2001-2009)
3.) or a Navistar, (2010-2013)
4.) or an Allied Specialty Vehicle, (since 2013)
with a "Beaver" nameplate.

My 2002 Beaver Patriot Thunder does have that big Cat C12 with no tag axle and handles just fine and is also not over weight!!! I drove semi's for years and feel most comfortable driving my Thunder without it having a tag axle. Just load your coach according to wheel/axle weights. This is my second Beaver and most likely my last motorhome so I trust it to last a lot longer. Marty

Mt 2000 Patriot Thunder is also a twin axle coach and I've had all 4 wheels weighed and the coach isn't over the manufacturer's GVWR. It does run a bit over the rated rear axle weight but it's only on the order of 5% and there's no sign of axle flexing affecting tire wear. The rear tires have several thousand pounds of excess capacity which is reassuring. The MH drives like a dream and the power to weight ratio makes it drive more like a car than a MH.

We purchased a 2008 Beaver Contessa used in 2011. Love this Coach. If your looking in the 2008 or 2009 model you have the C9 CAT with 425hp. Early 2008 and older have the C9 CAT 400hp. Love all the luxuries Monaco provides. Just food for thought IMO.

And to add to what 08 Beaver said, the Contessa was reintroduced in 2007 and replaced the Monterey. The 2007 and up 425 hp C9 is a little different in that it uses the common rail fuel system rather than the HEUI pump.
