Has anyone experienced how the RV dealers and their tactics ? Looked at a 4 yr old Tiffin product and they wont come down off their posted price and basically want to give you nothing for an immaculate gas coach trade in. And salesman let on they purchased their coach from someone so im sure they gave him rock bottom. And on top of the fact their coach is missing a recliner all the dinette chairs all the original bedding air comfort bed remotes missing bet mattress is shot all other remotes seem to be missing? and 4 yr old batteries. best they say they can is will replace the fixed dinette chairs. Well thats real generous of you!! Its one of the bigger dealers and i purchased my current coach from them.

That’s pretty much the norm. We was in the same boat.

If you are unhappy with the deal then walk. If enough people walk they will be forced to change their sales tactics. Some dealers operate off of the premise they can bully their way into a sale by telling you how awful your model is for trade in and how the one your looking at will be gone quick at this price so you must buy it today. Don't listen to that. Go to a dealer that actually cares about you and treats you with respect. Know what you are willing to take for yours and how much you are willing to pay. You can negotiate but don't be bullied. .

Sounds even worse than normal. I would take my money elsewhere.

We had a similar experience when selling our original coach to go from Class C to a DP our original dealer gave us pennies on the dollar on our trade and would not budge on he unit we waned. Bought it elsewhere.

I’d recommend not buying from a dealer, for all the reasons you’ve listed and many others. The fact that they’re selling a coach in such a state of disrepair should tell you something about them.

Maybe a smaller, niche dealer, the “deal” will pretty much be the same. Maybe someone else will have a complete coach to sell you. Tiffin isn’t a rare bird.

To top it off I see another one advertised on one of the rv classifieds Shows pics at an rv park and says private seller and I call and get a salesman at one of the bigger dealers!!

If you REALLY want it, offer 60% of their price and give them your phone number and tell them to call you when they decide they want to sell it, within the next week, not a day longer.

But I agree, walk away after asking them to recommend one of their competitors.

It's your money and your decision, the salesperson is NOT in control of either. I do not let the salesperson set the negotiation terms. I first determine the wholesale value of my trade-in, then obtain the advertised price of a potential purchase. I then sit down and calculate what I/we are willing to pay difference. That differential figure is my buying tatic. After fully evaluating the prospective purchase I adjust my differential amount accordingly.
When the salesperson gives their pitch and begins talking price, I rather sternly name my differential price, then say You may adjust the trade-in and your selling price as you see fit, but my differential is all I will pay. Then the chips will fall where they may, i will not sway from that differential amount.
That takes all the horse-hocky out of the salespersons tactics, most of them get a blank stare for a moment. I have walked out of several RV sales offices, finally found what i wanted at my price.

While buying a house once, a very wise realtor told me, "If you don't think it's a good deal for you, don't buy it."

No sense buying and then suffering regrets every time anything goes wrong...

You'd just set yourself up for continued disappointment judging from post.

I had to drive 60 miles just to look at our MH during out year-long search. The dealer gave me $10K off, just for that. When we finally brought our trade-in, they dropped again. Love our rig!

My experience is that there are very few "deals" at RV dealers. I'd add that it's difficult to figure out what's going on with some dealers. I've seen the same RV advertised at 6 different dealers around the DFW area. Same pics and everything. Then you'll find out most of them buy them from wholesalers anyway. We ended up buying from a private party. They were more willing to negotigate somewhere between wholesale and retail themselves. You can't trade in, but you will certainly make more selling it yourself.

It's a big investment, don't be afraid to travel to find a better deal. I bought ours over 500 miles from our home. You already have a coach, use it to travel and shop wherever you want.

That’s correct. And a dealer will rarely have any maintenance records on a used coach. They will only tell you that they’ve gone over everything and checked it out.

It is very easy to get an extremely close estimate of what any coach is worth by looking at all the listings on the web

Once you have narrowed that down it falls on the inspection to determine if it's worth pursuing and whether the price is within range

At that point you negotiate and either buy or walk
