camera at night problems

I have a 2012 Monaco Knight with a IR camera. After dusk, the view gets real hard to see as it gets darker. My assumption is that the IR lights are reflecting on the protective lens, thus making it almost impossible to see....anyone else have this problem?

I don't know if mine is IR, but it does have a day/night button.

IR cameras are like night vision, they have a couple of rows of red lights on either side of the camera.

The lights look like LEDs but the light they produce is not visible to the eye. The camera can pick up the reflection and produce a green monotone image.

Just checked again. I do have two vertical rows of 3 LEDs. I don't recall any green monotone screen, but I don't think I checked at night. During the day, when I switch from day to night, the brightness and contrast changes slightly.

To the OP... The IR lights may have failed. Is the screen bright or dark. If it was reflecting back it would be bright.

Also check for a day/night switch. My old one had to be toggled. The one I installed last year switched automatically at dark.

When I switch from day to night, there is nothing on the monitor to indicate which mode it is in. The screen just goes lighter and darker, but I can adjust for a clear picture in either mode. My problem is there is a street light 30' directly in front of where I park, so I can never get total darkness.

It is bright, can barely see things, it is like it has a fog on the lens as if it were moist.....

And the brightness/contrast won't help

When the camera is on at night, you can see the red led lights, or what ever they are, as being lit...maybe if I could get the lens off, I could see what is going on....

It may be some light reflecting off of something. When the marker lights on my toad are on it creates bright spots in my camera,

I guess if there was something on the lens it would reflect the IR back into the camera. Any chance you left the plastic film on the lens they use to protect it in shipping.
