Camping World Akron Ohio

Does anyone here have any experience, good or bad, with the service department at Camping World in Akron, Ohio?

Anywhere else ?

I bought my FR Berkshire there but have it stored for winter. I'm wondering what I can expect from them when I do take it there for the inevitable problems that a new MH will have.

Thanks,
Ken

Go south a couple more exits on I-77 and go to General RV for your service work. They are at the airport exit.

I've been going there for all my "house" work for several years. Great service.

Thanks for that info. I went there when we were searching for our RV, but didn't buy there due to the salesman not returning email and basically ignoring us after the first visit.

But I'm guessing the service department is separate from the sales dept. However, I'm not sure if they'll do warranty work on a Forest River. I will check to be sure.

Thanks again,
Ken

I recently had my Motorhome serviced and the backup camera repaired at Camping World in Loveland CO. I was concerned because Camping World didn't have the best reviews on their service department. I am happy to say they did a great job, the price was fair and the service guy was very nice. Service writers name was Ronson and I would recommend them here in Colorado.

Ditto on Rich & Linda. Go down the road. I only use them as a last resort for anything. When my wife and I were looking for a coach the sales people ignored me. On my previous rv a b+ the service department was less than interested in doing repairs ( insurance job, fire). When we went looking for a replacement couch for our current wb 35j the parts department was less than helpful. Others may have different experiences but that has been my experience with them.

You'll have to have your warranty work at CW. General RV certainly won't be interested or paid for servicing your NEW coach. Dealers are paid a low rate for warranty work by the manufacturers. I would work with Forest River coupled with CW service department to document all your needs. You have to have FR in the loop,or like many folks that post negatively about their service at CW your experience won't be pleasant. Just a fact, CYA needed hear.

I am lucky to have a half way decent relationship with a dealer 5 miles from home, that sells mostly 5th wheels and TT's but has a couple of gasser Model A's.

He sells Jayco and Forest River plus others. I will probably take it to them for warranty work on the house portion.

I have the choice of two Freightliner shops near me, so I guess I can avoid CW after all.

Thanks for the replies !!

I have experience with them, albiet before they became a CW. I wasn't impressed. Back when we had a TT we bought from them, had to return for some warranty work that involved the water heater. Despite having an appointment, they didn't get around to it for several weeks. We had winterized it & they unwinterized it to do testing. It was 25-degrees & snowing when we went to pick it up & they wouldn't take the time to re-winterize it . I was NOT happy having to winterize it, AGAIN, once it was cold (& outside because we stored it outside) when they could've done it inside their heated service bay. I think it took all of 2.5 gal to do that TT then. No skin off their nose to have done it. They also scratched the outside access door to the HWH compartment.

You will most likely have to go back to them for warranty work since as Clay pointed out, other dealers may not be willing to take it on. Just be sure you check out anything they do & make note of your RV's condition at drop off & then look it over again when you pick it up.

How is it one careless match can start a forest fire but it takes a whole box to start a campfire?

My only dealings with this CW was last June. My 1-yr old house batteries would not charge. We were enroute to Bangor, ME to join a caravan, and had a deadline. The service manager (forget his name) dropped everything, tested my batteries and determined at least one was shorted. I bought new batteries, had them installed, and was on my way by noon. (we'd overnighted there)
Since I was not going to haul the bad Interstate batteries around, the service manager wrote a letter to my local CW who sold me the MH explaining the facts. When we returned home the local CW service manager honored the battery warranty and the Akron service managers letter.
