Camping World Strikes Again With An Assist From Norcold
We'd appreciate a little feedback from the IRV2 community about an issue we're facing concerning Camping World and Norcold. To give you a little background, after a summer trip, we noticed that our refrigerator was not working. On July 29th we took our 2004 Newmar Dutchstar to Camping World to have the frig checked out, along with some other things that needed to be checked. We were told that we would get a call to let us know what the issue was but after not hearing anything, we had to call them. We were told that the cooling unit had to be replaced along with the nozzle that connected the propane to the frig. We were quoted the prices for the parts and labor, which we compared to other repair shops- we found that the prices were comparable to the CW prices. We also asked if they could check to make sure that none of the needed parts were under warranty or a part of any recalls. Unfortunately we again had to call and ask what they had found out-nothing was under warranty so we eventually agree for CW to do the repairs. We were told that we had to pay the bill IN FULL before they would order the parts, which we did-THEN we were told that the parts would take 3 weeks to get to them. We were called in about 3 weeks to let us know they got the part, they attempted the repair and it didn't work. We were told that we were not alone (this was the Friday before Labor Day) and that they would reorder the part. They did, they tried to repair it and again it didn't work. They are in contact with Norcold to see what could be wrong with Cooling Unit or with the way it was installed. We have been without our RV for 2 months and we are still no closer to having the issue dealt with. FEEDBACK PLEASE

I must agree each time I went to Camping World for service I regret it. Last time they over inflated my tires, and resealed a fantastic fan they were supposed to seal the bathroom fan but did the kitchen fan instead! on top of that they used dicor on the vent clips so I had to scrape it off when I cleaned under the cover sloppy work!!

I am just dumbfounded how they installed 2 cooling units, and still cant get it to run, did they check out the other components of the fridge, circuit board, eyebrow control......this is complete incompetence. I would definitely send a memo up.
I do NOT shop, visit or do anything with CW

Get your coach back and forget it. Don't waste your time otherwise. Nobody cares-- up to and including Marcus Lemonis himself.
The only safe way to deal with CW is as a retail store, if it's convenient. Period. You need a new sewer hose. You go in to CW, buy one, pay cash, and leave. End of story. You don't order online, don't let them special order, don't buy anything you can't carry home or that requires installation, and never, never drive your coach onto their property for any reason at any time. Period.

With all this screwing around you likely have spent enough money to have a residential fridge installed

Never, ever, ever pay before the job is complete. Any ethical business will not ask for payment until the job is finished.

What he said. At the very least you can refuse payment until the job is correct.

It seems that Camping World has a major P.R. problem with the RV community (their target clientele).

FWIW if the cooling unit was toast on a 10 year old unit I am not surprise at it not being in warranty. I am surprised anyone would pay to put back Norcold parts. Did you look into putting in the Amish replacement parts? Reportedly work better and are more rugged for the same price.
