If your son in law did in fact break off the nuisance telephone pole, then maybe this is a good opportunity to have the utility company place the new one further from the drive. He may have done you a favor.

I park up close to the house and the telephone wire drags the roof, So I prop it up with a stick and have my wife (wait for it, no woman driver bashing here) pull forward about 15ft and then I take it from there. My daughter and son-in-law (insert ominous music here) were going to go for a ride with us.
So we are ready to go, I prop up the wire and motion for my wife to pull forward; but it's not my love, it's the son-in-law. He is already starting to pull forward and it is only 15ft in a dead straight line, what can he screw up (AHHHhahahah).. .I'm such a retard). He does that with panache, it's only 15ft after all. Then just as he should be stopping he suddenly takes a hard right to go onto the street. There was a very loud and audible snap as he breaks off the telephone pole that has always sat at the edge of our driveway making it impossible to EVER turn anything larger than a Morris Mini to the right with any kind of ease.
This is Florida, I can legally kill him under the stand your ground law, can't I? Please!

I'm betting he can't drive the RV any longer, and I bet you won't lend him your car either!!

If you make him pay for it you might regret it when they decide they have to move in with you because, "We just can't make ends meet on $250,000 per year".

Killing might be complicated. I would go full DI on him. A 5 minute butt-reaming should reduce him into a wimpering pile of body fluids.

If you kill it, you got to eat it.

No butt-reaming required AITG. He knows my reputation, that I am over a foot taller and a 100lbs heavier. If you had seen his face, and the fact that he could barely walk. I give him props that he stood there and looked me dead in the eye. As much as I say kill, torture is much more entertaining. The wife and I have already decided that the next time we take the coach out that we are going to make him drive it off the property, after I cover the seat in plastic.

Now that it is a day later, I have to ask the other part of the question, why didn't your wife drive it like you asked her to?

I feel bad for you and for your son in law since he obviously didn't do that on purpose. It sounds to me like it should not have been parked where there was a low hanging wire in the first place. I raised 2 children, one is a daughter who has excelled in everything she has done in her life and the other was a son with Downs Syndrome who had lots of struggles in his life. I loved them both and will defend them both. With that being said, I think you need to think about the way you described yourself as being a retard and be very thankful that you more than likely are not. Just my honest fatherly perspective.

She has back problems and didn't want to squeeze into the drivers seat.

The evils of a too soon turn. The driver didn't get his hips out on the road before he made the turn, the tail had no where to go except against the pole. When I was a newbie I did the same thing against a mail box...ouch.
