can't pump gas into tank

we have 2012 allegro open road, gas tank in back of motorhome. took trip to california and we struggled to pump gas into our tank. never had a problem in washington state. anyone have a secret to how to pump gas into tank with the california pumps? thank you!!

I have had issues with CA pumps and motorcycles. I pull the rubber thing back and hold it while filling.
For the MH I know you must push it straight in firmly and then tip it down to lock it into the filler opening. Not all areas of CA have this abomination. There's a accessory you can buy to help. A U shaped thing that holds the accordian cover back so you can fill easier. Even in AZ I have fill at less than max to be successful.
