Carefree awning slideout topper

I have a Carefree topper on the slideouts and I am planning to replace them myself but so far I am unable to locate a diagram or instructions so that I do it correctly with few hick-ups. I have a 2002 American Eagle and the topper is the Carefree Slideout Koverll. Any suggestions as to how to do this?

Yes, That is what I am going to attempt but was not sure how to hold the spring tension without a schematic of the tube.

I used this video to get prepared and it was very easy to follow his steps. I replace the bed and living room (12 foot) slide toppers at the same time.

Hope it helps you

Make sure your reading the fabric removal instructions for your specific model. It's quite different between the SOK1 and SOK11

The torsion spring in the SOK II is on the left end as you view the topper from outside. The right end is a free-running roller with no spring. I carefully thread a 1/4-20 screw through the hole to tighten down the roller - it's easier than finding the dang hole all the way through.

WE have two SOK2's on our rig. A tip from experience........replace the roller spring while replacing fabric.......especially if they are original to your '02 rig

Might try RV Slide-Out Topper Awning Replacement Fabric Installation.
