Carefree door awning won't move sideways

I have a manual crank out Carefree of Colorado front door awning which extends just fine but will not slide front and back. The manual says to hook one of the aluminum tabs near the center with the crankout rod and pull. I've lubed it and yanked it but it won't move either way. When called, Carefree is no help. Anyone experience this and find a solution?
Thanks in advance.

I think I have the same type on my 2002 Revolution. The handle on bottom of slide unhooks front the from to awning and pulls down and toward the rear right? My was hard to do at first since it was never used.

Thanks Greg,
That sounds right but I am afraid to yank harder than I already have for fear of breaking something.
