Carpet will not stay flat

We use an 8 foot long carpet, 24 inches wide to take some of the wear and tear off the regular carpet. The problem is that the 8 foot long carpet will not stay flat and therefore is a safety problem. I can streighten it out and it will get a hump in it right away. We have tried the Walmart backing tape and it is worthless. Is there any way to keep the carpet flat?

I have had good luck with a carpet Rug Pad from Lowes. They have them for hard floor and carpet.

We use velcro. Buy the 2" wide industrial self stick at Walmart and glue the hook side to your runner and it will then cling to your floor carpet and not move. However it is still easy to remove just pull it up.

Have you tried rolling it backwards for a little while.
