Carrying capacity checking our numbers
We are looking at the 2016 Bay Stars and the starting carrying capacity is 2785 or 2806 for the models we're interested in (for most models they seem to be around there with a few exceptions on floorplans we don't want). We're having trouble getting weights for the various options but a model at the dealer that had most of the options we want was down to 1985 NCC. Here are our calculations from there...
Water: 75 gal @ 8lbs = 600
Propane: 25 gal @ 4.3 lbs= 107
Tongue weight of tow car: 100? or none if flat tow?
Upgrade to electric fridge: 250
=1600 leaving us 300-400 lbs for our stuff? that's not enough right? If this is true, we can try and eliminate various options (extra heat pump?) if we knew how much it added. Or reduce liquids to half (but we like to boondock). Overall it seems small potatoes and doesn't really gain us all that much.
If we don't have a choice with the Bay Star line with the ccc issue, we're really struggling with where to go from there - bigger chassis perhaps (but can't find short length (32-35), large passenger side windows and quality construction).
Any thoughts for us to consider (or set us straight on ccc!)?
