What chassis is your coach built on?
My Freightliner has 2, one hanging under the dash , and a second that was on a 7' coil of wiring harness laying on the top of the transmission. Coach manufacturer should have mounted both in an accessible place but didn't.
Under dash, it is the grey item with the with the white wire in the top left of this picture. Because the plug is on an 18" section of wiring, it could have been left anywhere in the area of the steering column.

The plug should be at the back of the engine on the left side when facing
towards the front of the engine.
Less than a foot from the ECM that is on the side of the engine.

As to location near drivers seat it could be in the panel where the controls for the
transmission are or it might be some where left of the steering wheel and in some
cases they did not install one up front.

I did find a 4 conductor cable wire tied in a bundle just cut off with no connector way up under the steering column black blue orange red...this is frustrating and that was factory as nobody else has touched this coach. Could it be in the battery compartment area as it it no where else. How many wire connect to the data link? Thanks for your help

It should be a 4 or 5 wire Cad 5 cable, only 4 wires are used
I see no reason it would be in the battery compartment.

Ours is under the dash way up out of sight. There is another in the rear mounted beside the radiator.

Thanks for the help and we are still looking although they were able to do a direct connect on left side of engine. Tag on top of engine says 3126 but all book that came with unit say B and they did confirm it is a B so has anyone had programming changed to allow engine to give 330 HP instead of 300 or is that a bad idea?

It is a B engine rest assured.
Getting a Cat shop to do the upgrade will be your problem as
the engine ser # might limit what is allowed for programing.
I have done all the upgrade changes.
